I am a software engineer in tests with 8+ years of experience. My relevant qualifications include my BS degree in Software Development. I am proud of being a part of teams that resulted successful product delivery to such customers as Telus, Ventelo, Microsoft, NetEntertainment, Thomson Reuters, F-Secure. During my career I was able to propose several innovations to testing activities that resulted improvement in speed and quality of our team services and provided all this experience in a book about software testing that I published in 2012.

Netcracker is one of the leading companies that provide Operations Support Systems (OSS) for telecommunication companies. Its clients are Telus, Ventelo, MTS, Telstra, Orange FR, AT&T, Verizon and many other huge companies. In this company I received my first experience in software testing. The RUP development methodology was used for all projects. I was put to one of the most complicated projects at once and there I was responsible for a separate module of system that should react on hardware malfunctions and send signals to operators in case of error. It was quite hard in the beginning but I understood the core functionality quite fast and was able to fulfil all my tasks in time. After this project I received a career and salary growth and became a team lead on a number of small internal projects in the company. I proud of it as I was put in the lead of team mates that worked three times longer in the company then I did.
Mostly my tasks in this company were based on requirements and design documentation analyses and test cases creation. |

I worked not for a long time in this company. All I was able to do during this time is to write several test cases and for pages on MSN, Yahoo, Orange FR sites that provided games. You could play the game and then buy it using different options if you want. Testing of the web pages also included billing systems verification. Economic crisis was quite hard time for this company and that is why many departments were fired. That is why I stayed in this company not for a long time. But I am proud of being a part of the team, which skills were highly admitted by Don Ryan (former Oberon COO and ex-Microsoft exec) during hard times in the company.

The projects were based on development web games for online casinos.
When I came to this company there were only two junior test engineers here. Testing activities were very poor and test tasks were only to play the developed games to see if those works as it is stated in the game rules. I brought all my previous experience and theoretical knowledge to this project. Only positive functional tests were used to verify the games when I came to the company. I added negative testing, performance testing, static testing, worked closely with developers during creation of unit tests, usability tests were done with assistance of art director. I overtime with test team members to teach them programming skills with Java and tests automation using Selenium RC and Sikuli frameworks (which I started to learn myself at that time). My success was admitted by product owner and once I was even allowed to lead a team of product owners testers and my team during the pre UAT System Test stage. That was an honor for me and best award I’ve ever received. This decision proved me that customer trusted me a lot and was completely satisfied with my skills. I also started security testing activities that resulted fixing of several critical bugs which caused money loss for company during previous releases. |

Testing back-end core functionality, that was responsible for processing, saving, releasing, converting information items received from various sources. Reuters is one of the biggest news agencies in the world and its servers receives tons of articles every minute. Servers should be able to process those articles, highlight most interesting keywords in those, bind with other related articles, deliver to subscribed users at required time and hide from those users, that are not desired for this kind of information. At the same time servers should be resistant to hacker attacks, such as DoS and DDoS, malware injection, path traversal, SQL and XSS injections. Servers should be stable and be able to restore themselves fast after critical error, if any occurs. All this checks were done by our team, as well as verification of all new core processes improvements developed by our team.

I was responsible for automated (C++) and manual testing of the core library functionality for the Skype desktop and mobile clients. Almost everything that was hidden behind the UI belong to us. One of the most interesting projects in my life. As complicated as interesting. Supporting billions of messages and millions of calls per day, improving capabilities and features of the world's best communication app. It was as challenging as interesting.
